The Herron Ethics Bowl team is on tight schedule preparing for their next big competition: national finals. In early April, the team will journey to North Carolina to compete in the National High School Ethics Bowl at Chapel Hill.

This is the second time in two years the Ethics Bowl team is going to nationals, and this year they bring with them more experience and a strong desire to win. Although the team did not win last year, they enjoyed meeting other teams from around the country and bonding as a team.

“Last year set the bar, in a good way,” the team said, and they are eager to make their mark this year again. “ It feels good that it’s not a fluke; we put in the work, time and effort.”

So what is Ethics Bowl, exactly? Herron’s team dutifully explains that the competition is “ a collaboration where teams debate on ethical and moral issues that we face in the modern day.”

The team is formed of 10 students; Zoe Stapleton-Deno, Faith Van Winkle, Shelly Marshall, Sam Surette, Kiara Kamara,Weidchg Moscato, Genova Mazhandu, Alona Finnel, Anya Heminger and Catherine Churchill, and is led by coach Mr. Pappas.

Nationals finals is April 7-9, and Herron wishes them the best of luck!
